Welcome to PubLaunch! Please read the following terms to understand how you can use the site and how we function.

Using the site

By visiting or using PubLaunch in any way, you are agreeing to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy.

Please read everything carefully. If you do not agree with our Terms of Use or any of our policies, please don’t use PubLaunch.

Summary of PubLaunch

PubLaunch provides a Marketplace that allows Suppliers to sell their services to Writers on the site.

“PubLaunch” includes all functions and content we make available to our users as well as everything displayed or transmitted on the site.

Eligibility of Use (who can use the site and how)

To use PubLaunch, you must be 18 years of age or older. If you are under 18, you can use PubLaunch with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who is at least 18 years old.

You are responsible for your account

To browse or explore the site, you don’t need to create an account. To access the Marketplace and project management resources, you’ll need to register for a Writer account and/or a Supplier account. A Writer account refers specifically to an account that allows hiring Suppliers. A Supplier account refers specifically to an account with a profile that advertises publishing services, allowing Writers to obtain services and the Supplier to receive payments for services rendered.

You are responsible for your account if you create one, and everything you post to the site from your account. This means that you need to provide an email and password, which you are responsible for protecting. In so doing, you agree to follow our User Conduct rules (detailed below).

If you fail to comply with these rules, we will cancel your account. We reserve the right to reject accounts or cancel your account at any time for any or no reason without liability. If we disable your account for violating these Terms or for any other reason, you may not create another account without our permission.

User conduct (don’t be a jerk)

You are responsible for any content you post to the site. We do not guarantee the accuracy, integrity, or quality of content. As a condition of use, you promise not to use the site for any purpose that is prohibited by these Terms.

Most importantly, don’t do the following:

- Use PubLaunch for illegal purposes.

- Use your account to upload or distribute content that infringes on any copyrights or trademarks.

- Distribute any content or share any communication that is defamatory, harassing, threatening, or obscene, or that violates Canada’s anti-hate laws.

- Use your account to distribute spam in any way.

- Tamper with PubLaunch code in any way or try to access or change the source code for any reason.

- Introduce viruses or harmful code that would compromise the security of the site and leak confidential information.

- Disclose another person’s personal information (such as their phone number or email address) without their written permission.

- Take any action that violates Canada’s privacy laws.

- Move your communications or business with other users off the site.

- Encourage other users to conduct business with you or each other off the site.


As a Writer, you are responsible to pay for all services listed in your invoice. Upon clicking “I accept this invoice,” a binding Service Contract is formed between you and each individual Supplier listed in your invoice.

You are responsible for providing the necessary documents and materials in order for Suppliers to provide their services and for answering Suppliers' questions truthfully and in a timely manner. If you fail to do so or decide you do not want to continue with your project, no refund will be issued.

If you (the Writer) or the Supplier believe there has been a breach of contract, you are responsible for reporting this breach to PubLaunch. You can do this in the project chat or via the admin@publaunch.com email.


As a Supplier, you are responsible for providing the service for which you have been selected. You are an independent contractor. We appreciate you, but we don’t do your taxes. All payments include sales tax.

You are responsible for ensuring the services offered, rates, information, and availability on your profile are up to date. If you're marked "Available", you are considered to have entered into the Service Contract for any project you are assigned.

If you (the Supplier) or the Writer believe there has been a breach of contract, you (the Supplier) are responsible for reporting this breach to PubLaunch. You can do this in project chat or via the admin@publaunch.com email.

Supplier Services

In order to be displayed in the Marketplace, Suppliers have to set rates for their services from those provided in the “Services” section of the Supplier's profile. Suppliers can edit their rates at any time. If a Supplier changes their rate, the rate that is in place at the time a project invoice is generated will be the rate paid for the project.

To protect Suppliers, PubLaunch sets a minimum rate for services. Minimum rates are subject to change. In the event of a minimum rate change, the Supplier’s previously set rate will stay in place until they choose another. PubLaunch admin will notify Suppliers two weeks in advance of the change. If a Supplier does not choose a new rate above the minimum rate within two weeks, the Supplier may be hidden from the Marketplace until a new rate has been selected.

We’ll approve all Supplier’s services before they appear in the Marketplace, in some cases asking for credentials, other supplementary documents, or that you take a simple competency test before we do. If we find issues with a Supplier’s service after it’s been approved, we reserve the right to hide you from that section of the Marketplace and ultimately remove your profile if the issue is not resolved.

Complaints policy

When PubLaunch receives a report of a complaint between a Writer and a Supplier, within five business days PubLaunch will acknowledge receipt of the complaint and confirm if either party has breached the Service Contract. This contract is formed between the two parties at the time the Writer clicks “I accept this invoice”. In most cases, the Supplier will have a chance to fix the issue at hand. If the original Supplier is not able to fix the issue per the Writer’s needs, another Supplier may be selected to jump in and try to solve it. If the issue is still not resolved, PubLaunch may issue a refund. Complaints will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Based on the severity of the complaint, PubLaunch may terminate your account or temporarily suspend your account until the issue is resolved.

If you believe there has been a breach of contract, you’re responsible for reporting this breach to PubLaunch in the project chat or via the admin@publaunch.com email.

Payment and fees

Payment will be collected as described in the Service Contract (see Payment). Payment will be sent out via BMO Global Pay or through wire transfer. Suppliers will be asked to provide our administrator with their required information in order to receive their payment.

We collect a platform fee of 10% of the Supplier’s total fee for their service as listed on the invoice.

We will also collect a project management fee of $200.

Use of your content
We do not claim ownership of your content. It’s yours. We DO claim the right to use your book cover in promotional and marketing material and will not grant compensation for any such use. We assume you're not going to object to us promoting your book in this way.
Third-party website and advertisers
Since our site contains the PubLaunch Marketplace for Suppliers to advertise their work, our site will naturally contain many links to third-party websites, advertisers, or services that we do not own or control. Following such links is done at the user’s own risk. PubLaunch is not responsible for any loss, damage, or risk related to these third-party services or links.
PubLaunch does not claim that the site will meet your requirements or will be error-free, that the site will alway be available or will be uninterrupted, that we will correct any defects, that the site will be free from viruses or other harmful code, or that the content or information otherwise accessible through the site does not infringe any third-party rights. We take reasonable steps to provide up-to-date, accurate, and reliable information; however, because we’re only human, PubLaunch is not responsible for errors or omissions.
Limitation of liability

We will not be liable to you for any direct or indirect damages arising out of your use or inability to use the site. You agree to indemnify us and our affiliates against all liabilities, claims, and expenses resulting from your breach of the Terms of Use.

This agreement is governed by the laws of Canada and Ontario. Any dispute about the services we offer or claim arising out of or in connection with this agreement will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.

Revisions to the Terms of Use
We may revise the Terms at any time. Any changes to the Terms will be effective upon posting on the site. We will provide notice of materially significant changes to the Terms via email. You are responsible for reviewing any such changes, and your continued use of the site after they are posted will constitute your acceptance of the Terms of Use as amended.
